Smart devices shipments forecast to show strong growth

Smart home products are exhibiting strong growth in U.S. homes, and 20% of households with broadband plan to acquire one or more smart home devices within the next year, according to new survey released from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and Parks Associates.

The study said 48% of those surveyed who own a smart home device are under 35-years-old.

Survey: 60% of households worried about privacy violations via a smart home system

Consumers are enthusiastic about smart home offerings, especially safety and security applications, even while they are very apprehensive about privacy issues, according to survey results from Parks Associates.

The organization's survey of 10,000 U.S. broadband households, conducted in the second quarter of 2014, showed that almost two-thirds of households are concerned that smart home systems will lead to privacy violations and unauthorized access to their data and devices. ...read more

70 Million Smart-TV Households By 2017

There will be 175 million online video users in the United States in 2013, and will reach 191 million by 2017, when there will be nearly 70 million smart-TV households, according to Parks Associates research.

The firm's advertising research finds that 25% of smart-TV app users recall seeing an in-app ad and 84% responded to that ad, the highest response rates to app advertising among current connected CE platforms.
