Personal Health Gadgets Becoming Mainstream

This is according to a report from the Parks Associates. “Analyst Insight: Consumer Trends in Telecare and Connected Health” surveyed 5,000 broadband connected households.

“The use of electric devices has skyrocketed,” reported Kristen Hanich, senior analyst for Parks Associates.

Where Is 8K Going After CES?

The wider Smart Home business is also finding an audience. The category is expected to grow 41 per cent YoY in the US, to 40.8 million units in 2018, earning $4.5 billion. According to smart energy research released by Parks Associates, 50 per cent of US broadband households say they intend to buy a smart home device within the next 12 months.

Brand Preference Steering Consumer CE Purchase Decisions

New Parks Associates research shows the importance of brand preference in consumer electronics purchase decisions, revealing that 71 per cent of buyers last year considered only one brand when making their purchase.

Tablets Rise Amid Stark Desktop Decline

According to Parks, only 6 per cent of US broadband households rely on desktops exclusively, with an additional 6 per cent of households using only a combination of desktops and tablets.

“Desktop adoption has declined from a peak of 91 per cent down to 61 per cent of broadband households, and it will not recover, as just 12 per cent of households bought a desktop in 2015,” Barbara Kraus, Parks director of research, commented.

Global Mobile Data Revenue Expected To Reach $630 Billion By 2020

An industry report by Parks Associates has estimated global mobile data revenue will rise from $368 billion in 2015 to $630 billion by 2020.

The internationally-recognised consulting firm claims that most of the growth will be concentrated in the Asia & Pacific region.

They speculate that the emergence of 5G networks will play a major role in this growth, estimating 17.2 million 5G consumer market subscriptions by 2020.
