Pope broadcasts in 4k HDR, Netflix top in UK Pay-VoD, Apple TV gets iPlayer: DTG daily news December 14th 2015

Netflix has a foothold in almost a fifth of internet-connected UK homes, coming third behind the BBC iPlayer (33% usage) and iTV Player (20%).

Research by Parks Associates into services used over the past 30 days around Europe found that Amazon Instant Video came sixth in the UK, behind 4oD and Demand 5, but the situation was reversed in Germany, where Amazon is used in 17% of homes and Netflix in 6%.

Report: TV channel apps used by 14% of tablet and smartphone users

Consumers are developing a preference for TV content apps as the number of TV-channel apps from networks for both smarphones and tables increase, says a report by Parks Associates. The firm found that 14% of smartphone/tablet users surveyed in 1Q 2013 have recently used a TV-content app and nearly 75% of these users are satisfied with this app experience.

Report: 80% of smart-TV owners use apps

Nearly 80% of smart-TV owners regularly use apps, according to a new report by Parks Associates. This has lead app developers to target the smart TV platform as the next significant growth area. The report revealed that 43% use an app to view videos and 45% use an app to play games.
