Nearly 20% of U.S. broadband households own a smart home device, or a household object that connects to the Internet, and nearly 45% of U.S. broadband households plan to buy a smart home device in the next 12 months, according to international market research firm Parks Associates.

Another survey conducted by Parks Associates in Q3 2015 of 10,000 U.S. broadband households, also demonstrated consumer app use. 80% of smartphone owners use social networking apps at least once a day and 35% spend an hour or more on this activity, according to the study.
