Integration: The smart home hub killer (Reality Check)

I am glad to report that the smart home market is in rude health. One recent research report from Parks Associates found that 17 percent of US broadband households own an Internet-connected entertainment device and a smart home device, with an additional 13 percent of consumers owning both a connected health device and a smart home device.

DALLAS-The number of households that use Wi-Fi technology for home networking has now surpassed the number that use Ethernet, according to a new Parks Associates survey. According to the “Global Digital Living” report, 52 percent of U.S. households with home networking use Wi-Fi while 50 percent use Ethernet. In Canada, only 32 percent of households with home networking use Wi-Fi, while 43 percent use Ethernet and 26 percent were unsure which technology they use.

Top Trends In The Connected Car Market

BI Business Intelligence estimates more than 380 million connected cars will be on the road by 2021 – and the market is picking up speed faster than expected, even from a year ago. In the U.S., Parks Associates estimates the U.S. connected vehicle market will include 61% of the light vehicle fleet by 2012, or about 183 million cars – up from about 60 million in 2015.

Analyst Angle: Wireless Charging Provides Convenience And Easy Experience For Consumers

With projected sales of more than 8.3 billion smartphones and over 400 million smart watches between 2016 and 2020 worldwide by Parks Associates, wireless charging technologies have an enormous addressable market. These numbers exclude other wearable categories from fitness trackers to connected health devices that can also benefit from wireless charging solutions.
