Chromecast closes gap on Roku for streaming dominance

If you’ve not yet bought a Chromecast, what’s stopping you? Google’s tiny streaming stick gets better all the time, and works pretty seamlessly with your existing apps (at least those supporting it). Not having a Chromecast seems silly, and you might soon be in the streaming minority if you’ve not yet snapped one up. Chromecast turns one with 400m casting milestone

Back in June, market researchers Parks Associates found that, while Chromecast was in an estimated 6-percent of US homes, those actually using it to look at webpages or media on their TVs had dropped significantly. Their conclusion was that the streamer's relatively low $35 sticker price meant many bought in without necessarily researching exactly what the Chromecast could - and couldn't - do, only realizing its limitations and abilities over time.

Chromecast use declining in US, research reveals

Chromecast, the tiny dongle that was supposed to do big things, may not be on track for dominance. According to a new report, usage of the Chromecast has declined overall. Though 6% of households in the US have one, less and less are using it, instead turning to other mediums.

Roku CEO makes fun of Apple TV calling it an iPad accessory

There are no shortage of set top boxes on the market today. Some of the most popular come from Roku. About a year ago, Roku launched the Roku 3 set top box and it is one of the most popular devices the company sells. Apple is also in the market with a product called the Apple TV that has been called a hobby for the company.

Research shows what Siri is used for

A consulting group called Parks Associates surveyed 482 owners of the iPhone 4S to see what people are using Siri for.

According to the survey most users are taking advantage of Siri only for basic things. The most popular activities are making phone calls and sending text messages. According to the Wall Street Journal this is a sign that Siri usage mirrors how people commonly use their phones, which makes sense. US gaming population has almost tripled since 2008

The study that revealed this information came from Parks Associates and is titled Trends in Digital Gaming: Free-to-Play, Social, and Mobile Games. Based on the title of the report alone, you can probably guess what the conclusion of the study was. Mobile advertiser claims to offer Flash ads for iPhone

A mobile advertising platform is claiming to be able to offer Flash adverts on the iPhone, although the method by which they do so is unknown. Greystripe offer advertisers standard IAB-format flash adverts and “tailgate” games, in which promoted content is added into downloadable content.
