Netflix cracking down on password sharing. How about HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu, and others?

High inflation is prompting consumers to tighten their belts. And, with so many viewing options at their fingertips, subscribers are getting increasingly fickle. They sign up for streaming services to watch “Yellowstone” or “Succession” only to unsubscribe a few months later.

HBO Max debuts without the two most popular streaming platforms, Roku or Amazon

Roku and Amazon are the two largest streaming platforms, by far, with a combined 33% market share, according to Parks Associates, and Max isn't available on either. It is viewable on the two way smaller streaming player competitors, Apple TV (4%) and Google Chromecast (3%).

Nancy Grace joining Fox News' streaming service to host 'Crime Stories with Nancy Grace'

Finley said Fox is happy with the number of subscribers Fox Nation has after one year, although the company won’t release any statistics. The market research firm Parks Associates estimates that it has between 200,000 and 300,000 subscribers.

As cord-cutting prices rise, here's what you can do to keep costs down

Buying a home? Sellers may use cameras, microphones to spy on house hunters

About 9.4 million U.S. homes, or 7.4% of the total, are equipped with Wi-Fi enabled cameras and mics, says Brad Russell, research director for Parks Associates, a consumer technology research firm. As many as 11 million or so have similar but more limited set-ups trained on the doorstep or outside the house, or embedded in a light fixture, Russell says. Tipping point: Video streamers are now in the majority as pay TV watching drops

Among those services, Netflix is the clear leader, with Amazon and Hulu next, according to a recent survey from Parks Associates.

Deloitte found a concurrent "inflection point" for providers of traditional pay TV service delivered via cable, satellite and fiber. Pay TV use fell to 63% in 2017 from 75%, the survey found.

And among those who no longer had pay TV, 27% said they had "cut the cord" within the past year.

Cord cutters can now pick from 200 services, but mostly want the top four

Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and MLB.tv are winning the cord-cutting wars, but HBO is making a move as viewers choose from a bonanza of niche streaming services.

The top four places are unchanged in a ranking of subscription video services delivered over broadband, according to the OTT Video Market Tracker Top 10, from research firm Parks Associates.
