iControl Sues One of Its Biggest Competitors, Alarm.com

by Parks Associates | Jul. 15, 2013

iControl is suing one of its biggest competitors, Alarm.com, over interactive home security automation.

iControl, the cloud-based home automation and security platform,is also suing one of Alarm.com's customers, FrontPoint.

Both companies, iControl alleges, are guilty of patent infringement.

The lawsuit says, "FrontPoint entered into a mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement with iControl and was then introduced to iControl’s proprietary technology." However, iControl claims that FrontPoint only posed as a customer,

FrontPoint allegedly gained inside information about the company, and then passed this information along to Alarm.com.  The information was then allegedly used by Alarm.com to create similar technology which it then sold to FrontPoint.
