Interoperability and the Connected Device Market

by Parks Associates | Jul. 10, 2013

Connected devices are set to become the next big thing in the home and the marketplace.

The market for connected devices is in its early stages (connected devices currently amount to less than one percent of the market, according to Parks Associates), but connectivity has been increasingly making its presence felt in the home.

The market for these devices is currently fragmented as companies are designing solutions to meet their personal objectives.  However, to achieve the full success of the connected home, interoperability needs to be established between different networks and applications.

Companies must set goals both to differentiate their own services and integrate with other products while enhancing their relationship with the consumer for the market to grow.  This must accompany an understanding of the roles of different companies involved in the design, development, and deployment of a connected solution.
