Motorola Mobility and Parks Associates address growth opportunities for service providers, retailers in connected home market

IP services for energy, security, health, and home monitoring a key focus of October 27th Webcast

Consumers are becoming more enthusiastic, and also more demanding, for connected home solutions. "Connected Home Services: Your Front Door to Revenue Growth," a webcast hosted by Motorola Mobility and Parks Associates on October 27th, will address the core opportunities and implications for service providers, retailers, and other key players in these markets.

Parks Associates research finds one-fourth of U.S. broadband households would like a home security service from their broadband service provider, and another 24% would like a home monitoring service. Consumers ranked home security and monitoring services as most valuable when considering a variety of IP services. Service providers such as ADT, Alarm.com, Comcast, and Verizon are finding competition to attract and retain customers is intensifying, and a rich menu of value-added services can provide a significant advantage.

"Bundles are popular with broadband households - 69% already have a bundle from their Internet or TV provider," said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. "The opportunity to bundle 2-3 preferred IP services improves their likelihood of adoption significantly over isolated offerings. This strategy is critical for companies to stay competitive, especially as IP has opened the connected home to all types of players. Customer satisfaction, and therefore retention, improves with the more services subscribers can add over the core offering."

In the webcast, Thursday, October 27, at 1:00 p.m. CT, Sikes will present consumer research from Parks Associates' latest IP-service studies, including consumer segmentation based on service interest. Motorola Mobility’s Nate Williams, Senior Director of Product Marketing, will share Motorola 4Home’s experience in rolling out connected home services and overcoming key market challenges.

Webcast topics:

  • The rising capabilities of connected home services
  • The enthusiasm of the connected consumer is increasing
  • The experiences of Motorola 4Home
  • Key implications for a growing industry

“Connected Home Services are beginning to catch on with consumers, with tier-ones already pushing towards the mainstream,” said Nate Williams, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Converged Experiences, Motorola Mobility. “This is the critical period. We’ve moved beyond the early challenges of cost and accessibility. The fate of the industry now lies in the execution and the consumer experience—where Motorola has unparalleled insight.”
