Parks Associates reports 39% of U.S. broadband households are unfamiliar with available energy programs

Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer examines new strategies to boost consumer adoption of energy management solutions

At the upcoming Smart Energy Summit, international research firm Parks Associates and leading energy executives will address strategies to boost consumer awareness and engagement with current energy offerings. Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, February 28-March 1 in Austin, Texas, addresses opportunities for new energy services and partnerships among broadband service providers, utilities, OEMs, security providers, and retailers.

"There is interest in home services such as energy management and remote monitoring and control, so much that 35% of U.S. broadband households are willing to switch broadband providers to get these services,” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. “However, only 19% of households have taken advantage of energy programs currently available. Our event addresses the reasons for this shortfall, including strategies to improve consumer engagement, and areas where the interests of utilities and broadband service providers intersect.”

Smart Energy Summit features two morning sessions on February 29 addressing adoption of energy management solutions and future changes in how consumers manage electricity at home. "Engaging Consumers" and "Boosting Consumer Adoption" address strategies to reduce churn and operating costs, examine new value propositions in energy management, and analyze the new challenges around privacy, data ownership, and system security.
