Parks Associates hosts second-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers, September 9-10, in San Diego

Digital health research from Parks Associates shows U.S. consumers are adopting connected health devices and health apps in increasing numbers. According to the research firm, nearly 30% of U.S. broadband households own a connected health device, with over 40% of device owners having more than one. In addition, 55% of U.S. broadband households use at least one health app on a monthly basis. Parks Associates will discuss the success of these devices, as well as challenges and opportunities facing the market, during the firm’s second-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers, September 9-10, at the Omni San Diego Hotel.

“Fitness trackers stand out as one of the more successful product categories thanks to major marketing campaigns and the release of well-designed, easy-to-use products,” said Harry Wang, Director, Health & Mobile Product Research, Parks Associates. “At this year’s Connected Health Summit, we will assess successful device strategies for personalizing the consumer experience for better engagement and outcomes with the leading companies in the industry.”

Connected Health Summit features two sessions on Wednesday, September 9, focusing on consumer engagement strategies for connected health devices. “Personalizing the Consumer Experience: Challenges and Best Practices,” 10:45 a.m., moderated by Jennifer Kent, Director, Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates, featuring the speakers:

  • David Inns, CEO, GreatCall
  • Adam Pellegrini, Vice President, Digital Health, Walgreens
  • John Vander Meulen, General Manager, Johnson & Johnson Health and Wellness Solutions

“Walgreens believes the key to omni-channel digital health is the creation of seamless, frictionless experiences that engage the consumer,” said Adam Pellegrini, Vice President, Digital Health, Walgreens. “We have seen significant success in our connected device strategy both in engagement as well as outcomes.  As this space evolves, the true differentiator will be omni-channel experience."

“It’s exciting to be playing an active role in what many feel is the next frontier in healthcare,” said John Vander Meulen, General Manager, Johnson & Johnson Health and Wellness Solutions. “New technology and devices are always exciting to see, but the real opportunity lies in how we harness the power of human psychology, behavior science and data analytics to bring this technology to consumers in a way that has a meaningful impact to their health. Our research shows that personalized programs can help affect positive and sustained change in health behaviors. We will continue to focus on solutions that provide individuals with a custom-tailored approach to health and wellness based on what’s most important to them, empowering and motivating them to take control of their health in a whole new way.”
