Consumers give thumbs-up to e-enabled security options

As interconnectivity via broadband or the Internet rises within American households, so, too, does the usage of an electronic home security system.

According to Primary Perspectives:  E-Enabled Home Security, a report published by Parks Associates, 40 percent of households with broadband connections also have an electronic home security system.

Parks report highlights synergies of home security, home control systems

A significant correlation exists between ownership of a security system and having an installed home controls system, according to Home Systems:  Home Controls, a new report from Parks Associates.

While only 13 percent of respondents that didn't own a security system reported some type of home control system in their home, the percentage jumped to 30 percent when looking at households with a security system.

Home networks key in Internet appliance growth

The adoption of home networking solutions will play a key role in the growth in acquisition of non-PC Internet appliances, according to a recent study by Parks Associates, Dallas, entitled Networks @ Home: Multiple-PC Households. The national survey of multiple-PC households found that consumers with a home network are more likely than the non-networked counterparts to find use for a portable device with Internet access.
