CES: 50% of flat-panel shoppers seeking 4K capability

Parks Associates announced new European research today at CES 2016 showing that over 50% of households in the UK, France, Germany and Spain planning to buy a flat-panel TV in the next 12 months consider 4K an important or very important feature of their next model.

45% of Western European broadband homes have smart TVs

45% of European broadband households own a smart TV, according to new research from Parks Associates.

According to the study, the highest percentage of households is in Germany, where over 50% of broadband households have this Internet-connected CE device.

Report: 4K TV sales to spike by 2019

New research from Parks Associates states that more than 330 million 4K UHD TVs will be sold globally by the end of 2019, an increase from two million in 2013.

The report, Connected CE: Trends and Innovation, notes that, of US broadband households planning to purchase a flat-panel TV in 2015, 56% think that 4K picture quality is an important feature. Roku comes out top in streaming video device sales

A new Parks Associates report on streaming media devices reports four brands – Amazon, Apple, Google, and Roku – accounted for 86% of all units sold to US broadband households in 2014.

OTT password sharing costs industry $500 million

OTT video service credential sharing will cost the industry $500 million in direct revenues worldwide in 2015, according to new research from Parks Associates.

Study reveals strong European appetite for smart home

According to new research from Parks Associates, one in four broadband households in the UK, Spain and Germany find at least one smart home device “very appealing.”
