TV remains overwhelming leader for video viewing

US broadband households spend an average of 1.3 hours per week watching video on a tablet and 1.6 hours per week on a smartphone, compared with almost 20 hours per week on a TV.

US pay-TV subscribers embrace cloud DVR

More than 45% of US pay-TV subscribers are interested in cloud DVR technology, according to research from Parks Associates.

In particular, consumers are interested in unlimited storage space and two-week catch-up services for video.

With the Supreme Court omitting cloud DVR in its 2014 Aereo ruling, pay-TV providers can experiment with these cloud services as strategies to build subscriber loyalty and increase revenues, the company said.

Seagate launches personalised Roku channel

More than 25% of US homes to have streaming player by 2015

The likes of Roku, Apple and increasingly Amazon Fire TV are driving rapid expansion of streaming media players in US households according to research from Parks Associates.

Interest in Chromecast 'wanes'

Enthusiasm for the Google Chromecast streaming video dongle appears to be waning, analyst Parks Associates has noted in a first quarter 2014 consumer survey.

Young viewers key in driving OTT market

A report from Parks Associates has revealed the full extent to which younger viewers are driving the uptake of over-the-top (OTT) services, in particular over multiple devices.

NAB 2014: Roku outguns Apple TV on TV and movie over-the-top use

Leading US analyst Parks Associates has revealed survey data showing that more Roku owners than Apple TV owners use an over-the-top (OTT) service.

Specifically, the firm's Streaming CE and Content Purchasing Habits report found that 86% of Roku owners compared to 77% of Apple TV owners use a subscription OTT service of any kind.
