Over 25% of US CE shoppers use mobile commerce apps in-store

More than 25 percent of CE buyers in US broadband households use mobile commerce apps on their smartphone to help with an in-store purchase decision, including functions such as product research, barcode scanning, and interaction with a retailer or brand app, according to a new study from Parks Associates. More US households use Roku than Apple TV to stream video

The number of US broadband households with a streaming video media device, such as a Roku or an Apple TV, has doubled since 2011, reaching 14 percent in 2013, according to new research from Parks Associates. Among households with a streaming video media device, 37 percent primarily use a Roku compared to 24 percent that primarily use an Apple TV. Nearly 23% of UK homes with broadband have security system

Nearly 23 percent of broadband households in the UK have an electronic home security system, according to a study by Parks Associates. Fewer than 20 percent have home security systems in France and Belgium, and only 6 percent of German households have a system. By 2020, the UK and Spain will have over 20 million smart meters, while France and Germany will exceed 30 million.

Multiscreen service accessible to over 70% pay-tv users

Over 70 percent of pay-TV subscribers in Western Europe are able to receive a TV Everywhere/multiscreen service, according to a study by Parks Associates. In Eastern Europe, multiscreen availability topped 25 percent of pay-TV households early this year. However, ARPU remains low, pushing many operators to test business models.

Half of US broadband homes want YouTube with pay-TV service

Consumers want to be able to access online video as part of their pay-TV service, according to new online video research from Parks Associates. More than one-half of US broadband households would like to have a YouTube on-demand features with their pay-TV services. Parks Associates research finds that 28 percent of US broadband households watched a full-length movie on a computer in the last two weeks.
