Southerners Concerned Consumers

Concern for home security is apparently more acute in the South compared with other regions of the U.S.  This according to a recent study by Parks Associates, a research and consulting firm based in Dallas, Tex.  The same conclusion was reached through the Home Security survey conducted by SDM and Protection One.

According to the study, Southerners are far more concerned about home security than both Midwesterners and Northeasterners.  Almost 73 percent of Southerners agree with the statement, "I am far more concerned about the physical security of my home than I was five years ago."  In comparison, the national average in agreement with the previous statement hovers around 66 percent.

The South also leads in percentage of consumers with security systems with 25 percent.  In comparison, the national penetration rate is closer to 17 percent while the Midwest is at 10 percent.
