Parks: ‘UK cord cutters could double’

Research from Parks Associates finds that the percentage of UK broadband households stating that they are likely to cancel their pay-TV service has increased to 24 per cent in late 2018 from 12 per cent in late 2015. The intent to cancel is higher among households that watch online video services.

Research: 6% US broadband homes have gigabit-speed services

New research from Parks Associates finds that 22 per cent of US broadband households have a service speed of 100-999 Mbps, the most common service tier, although 39 per cent of US broadband households do not know their broadband speed. Research: 97% smart speaker homes own one device brand

Research from Parks Associates finds smart speakers inspire strong brand loyalty among owners – 97 per cent of smart speaker households own only one brand in this device category.

Research: 6% US homes will have pay-TV OTT in 12 months

New research from analyst firm Parks Associates shows that 6 per cent of US broadband households are highly likely to subscribe to an online pay-TV service within the next 12 months, which would more than double the number subscribing today.

Analyst: 52% US households dual pay-TV/SVoD

According to the latest Market Snapshot: OTT and Pay TV: Partnerships and Competition, from research and consulting firm Parks Associates, which examines competition in the US entertainment marketplace as partnerships between pay-TV and OTT within the video space become more common, over half of broadband households have a combination of pay-TV and at least one OTT service.

Over 70% of TV viewing by young not TV or live-streaming

TV-viewing research from Parks Associates finds that live TV viewing among all video consumption has continued to decline overall among US broadband households – nearly 60 per cent of video viewed on the TV is on-demand, non-linear content. The research shows that the trend is particularly pronounced among young consumers. Just over one-quarter of TV viewing by consumers ages 18 to 34 is of live sources, including pay-TV, over-the-air channels, and live-streaming.
