Apple Still Leads But Samsung Fast Catching Up In US

Washington, Feb 12 (IANS) Apple is still the leader in the US smartphone market but it needs to pull up all its socks as Samsung is fast catching up with its stunning range of Android-based devices, a new report has revealed.

Amazon to stop selling Apple and Google media streaming devices

Amazon has invested heavily in online content, including producing its own exclusive shows such as the award-winning transgender comedy "Transparent", as a way to attract new Prime subscribers, who pay $99 a year for speedy shipping and access to video and other services.

Roku fights Apple with new movie store

Bloomberg reports the Saratoga company's boxes offer access to its M-GO online store to order movies and TV shows from different studios. They also offer a new remote that features one-click access to streaming services such as Netflix, Blockbuster and Amazon.com's Instant Video. Roku has sold more than 5 million of its set-top boxes and holds 37 percent of the market, according to Parks Associates, compared with Apple TV's 24 percent.

Internet Households to Exceed 820 Million Worldwide by 2017

By 2017, over 820 million households worldwide will have Internet service, and more than 94% will have broadband, according to international research firm Parks Associates.
