Canny and Connected

A recent Parks Associates market snapshot noted the explosion of smart home services, with more than one-quarter of U.S. broadband households reporting to own at least one connected device, a number surely to grow. The multiple-option survey showed nearly equal parts enthusiasm and anxiety, with 70 percent of respondents indicating interest in buying smart home technologies, but a combined 66 percent either overwhelmed, confused or worried about it.

Consumers willing to pay for energy monitoring if guaranteed savings

In a new residential energy management report, Parks Associates reports 15-20 percent of U.S. consumers are very willing to pay a $5-$10 monthly subscription fee for a service promising 10 percent savings on their energy bill.

Utilities positioned to drive residential gateway market

The technology is the residential gateway, and research and consulting firm Parks Associates has reported that the market for this technology will more than triple by 2005.
