Hulu apps get Chromecast support

Google's Chromecast device can now play video directly from Hulu Plus apps on iOS and Android devices, Hulu said.

The new apps feature a custom remote control system that lets users pause and rewind what they're "casting" to their TV sets, select programs to watch and turn on captions, Hulu said. It also lets users browse for other shows or clips while watching something through the Chromecast.

Parks predicts 70M smart TVs

Parks Associates is predicting that there will be 175 million online video users in the U.S. in 2013 and that this number will climb to 191 million by 2017 when there will be nearly 70 million smart-TV households.

Parks Associates sees IPTV more than doubling by 2017

It's time for telcos and IPTV to take center stage in the U.S. pay TV services market, according to Parks Associates, which last week unveiled research that predicts IPTV subscribers will more than double to about 18 million by 2017.

Report: Connected devices, TVs offer opportunity for service providers

The increasing consumer uptake of connected devices and smart TVs is changing the way consumers access online content, according to a new report.

Service providers get a new option for TV Everywhere from itaas, RGB Networks, Verimatrix

Vendors say operators are increasingly eager to launch TV Everywhere service, especially in competitive environments. SNL Kagan said a TVE option potentially reduces churn and cord cutting. In fact, Parks Associates research said 20 percent of households who said they were very likely to switch providers said they would be unlikely to change if they had a free TV Everywhere product to access.

Research: TV Everywhere will be (nearly) everywhere by mid-2011

Research from Parks Associates shows that by the middle of this year, some 81 percent of U.S. and Canadian pay-TV customers will have access to TV Everywhere services through their current providers.

Time Warner Cable launching live TV to Apple's iPad

The price of poker just went up today as Time Warner Cable said it would launch a new app for Apple's iPad Tuesday that will allow users to watch live TV if they're a TWC video and Internet subscriber.
