Connected Health Devices Generate Innovation and Consternation

Not surprisingly, new research released this week by consultancy Park Associates reveals that 23 percent of U.S. broadband households have privacy and security concerns related to the use of connected health devices. 29% of U.S. Broadband Households Have Connected Health Device

New research reveals that 29 percent of U.S. broadband households own a connected health device—up from 27 percent a year ago—while 12 percent of broadband households own multiple connected health devices.

Those are among the findings of Dallas-based research and consulting firm Parks Associates. The firm also reports that more 50 percent of broadband households use an online health tool to communicate with their doctor, access personal health data, or fill prescriptions.

Almost 30% of Broadband Households Own, Use Connected Health Device

New survey data from research firm Parks Associates shows that 27 percent of U.S. broadband households currently own and use at least one connected health device.

The survey of more than 5,000 U.S. broadband households also reveals that 13 percent of U.S. broadband households are very likely to purchase a connected health device within the next 12 months.

Where's The Digital Health Consumer Sweet Spot?

Dallas-based consulting firm Parks Associates split the burgeoning digital health consumer market into four distinct segments in a recent survey.

The survey, which contacted 2,500 heads of household in broadband-enabled American homes, reported that among all U.S. broadband households, 26 percent are healthy and engaged, 25 percent are challenged but mindful, 28 percent are unhealthy and in denial, and 21 percent are young and indifferent.
