HBO Now is coming in time for 'Game of Thrones' — 3 reasons why it’s good for business

Roku sitting on top of more TVs in America

Roku is still the set top box most prefer.

In the U.S. market, Roku is the most-used streaming device, making up 37% of the market, according to a survey of 10,000 broadband households from Parks Associates. Its closest competitor, Apple TV, has 24% of the market. According to the brand, there have been more than 5 million Roku devices sold in the U.S.

Connected-TV users connect to apps too

A new study confirms that connected-TV users are connected in more ways than one. Four out of five connected-TV owners use apps on a regular basis, according to a report by Parks Associates.

But don't worry if you're not among the connected, they aren't using it for educational or business purposes. Nearly 45% are using the apps to play games and 43% use them to watch video.
