Smart home worth high-billions, more by 2020

Parks sees energy management among top sellers: In a recent poll conducted among US consumers by Dallas-based research firm and consultancy Parks Associates, 12% of respondents said they plan to buy a home-automation device within the next year. Parks research finds growth in home smart energy

New smart-energy research from Parks Associates showed US broadband households have been adopting energy-saving solutions that could be the foundation for future smart home services and the so-called "internet of things." Roughly 50% own a programmable thermostat and 11% have a thermostat that can connect to the internet, Parks found.

Key Parks Associates director makes case for data disaggregation

Giving power customers home energy-use data alone is “somewhat insufficient,” and utilities need to consider data disaggregation, Tom Kerber of research and consulting firm Parks Associates said during a webcast last week on business models for energy services.
