Diginets Come Of Age

The share of U.S. households that acquire their TV signals via over-the-air antenna increased to 20 percent—or about 24 million homes—from 16 percent from early 2015 through the end of 2017, according to Parks Associates data from March.

A growing number of U.S. broadband households is spending more time watching user generated live content on social media, according to a new industry report from Parks Associates. The growth in this sector parallels a declining number of viewers getting their news from local new sources.

Report: Antenna Only Homes Increase to 15 Percent

While we’re certainly no longer in the days where people had a pair of rabbit ears on top of their TV sets, the use of antennas are making a little bit of a comeback according to a recent report from Parks Associates. As a result of the cord-cutting trend and the decline of pay-TV subscriptions, the “360 View: Entertainment Services in U.S. Broadband Households” report shows there has been an increase in antenna-only homes to a total of 15 percent.

Interest in OTT Heats Up

The reach of Netflix is also still going strong. According to a recent study from Parks Associates, 86 percent of Roku owners use a subscription OTT service of one kind or another, with 75 percent of them choosing Netflix.
