Wireless Home Security Systems On The Rise, Parks Associates Says

Parks Associates released a study on Wednesday that found almost half of home security owners in the United States have a security system that connects wirelessly to sensors.

In addition, nearly 50% of smart home devices in the U.S. are self-installed, according to Brad Russell, a research analyst at Parks Associates.

Why Residential Is Ready to Rebound

For the first time since Dallas-based research firm Parks Associates began studying security in 1988, there is a statistical drop in the percentage of homes monitored. The number fell from 19.5 percent in 2008 to 17.5 percent in 2010. While 2 percent seems a small differential, when considered as the percentage of all monitoring lost, the number jumps to 10 percent.

Study sees home control sales hitting $2.8B in 2006

In a new study, Dallas-based Parks Associates reports that home controller sales, representing a variety of home management applications, will increase by more than $1 billion during the next five years.  Home Systems: Home Controls Forecasts predicts that, between 2002 and 2006, growth will be particularly strong in entertainment, lighting, communications, and central home controllers.

Survey: Dealers to Add More Products for Residential Market

Dealers are adding product categories that will help them with the next wave of customer demand this year and are shedding products with poor margins, according to an e-mail survey conducted by market research firm Parks Associates.  Out of 273 respondents, 83 percent believe sales volumes this year will improve greatly from 2001.
