Tablet Sales Booming Alongside 3G and 4G Network Subscriber Growth


Parks Associates forecasts more than 68 million of the 126 million tablets sold worldwide in 2015 will have 3G or greater technology. The research firm's latest report Mobile Broadband & Mobile Computing Devices shows 29% of the 16.5 million tablets sold in 2010 featured embedded 3G technology, while tablets with 3G/4G technology will account for over one-half of all tablets sold in 2015.

Femtocells are evolving, but operators aren't

This week, Parks Associates revealed the results of a survey that found more than half of U.S. broadband households with mobile phones would be willing to pay for the devices and associated new services. "The findings also indicate femtocells can significantly improve subscriber satisfaction and lead many households to consolidate with a single provider."

Survey: Four in 10 consumers don't want mobile ads

Thirty-eight percent of consumers say they don't want advertisements on their mobile phone regardless of the circumstances according to a new survey issued by market research firm Parks Associates. A quarter of respondents say they are open to mobile ads, and 37 percent of consumers are neutral. In addition, while 18 percent of subscribers say they support personally relevant ads, 39 percent are indifferent and 43 percent are not interested.

Telco/IPTV: 40M households can't be wrong

The advent of telco/IPTV may still be relatively new, but a new whitepaper from Parks Associates forecasts that the number of worldwide telco/IPTV service subscribers will total 40 million by the end of this year.
