Poll: Nearly 30% of Broadband Users Own Connected Health Devices

Nearly 30% of U.S. broadband households own and use at least one connected health device, such as a treadmill with built in mobile health application support, according to a Parks Associates survey, Clinical Innovation & Technology reports.
For the survey researchers queried more than 5,000 U.S. broadband households.

Report: Virtual Health Care Consultations Will Increase Significantly

The number of U.S. households that use video conferencing for physician consultations likely will reach 22.6 million in 2018 -- up from 900,000 last year, according to a report from Parks Associates, MobiHealthNews reports.

Parks Associates said that the use of virtual health care technology is likely to increase as meaningful use requirements call on providers to offer such services to patients.

Report Says Connected Health Device Market Will Reach $8B by 2018

The sale of connected health and wellness devices will increase by 142% from about $3.3 billion in 2013 to more than $8 billion by 2018, according to a report from the Consumer Electronics Association, MobiHealthNews reports.

The report was produced in conjunction with Parks Associates.

According to the report, device manufacturers sold more than 40 million wellness products in 2013 and that figure is expected to increase to more than 70 million by 2018.
