The number of U.S. households that use video conferencing for physician consultations likely will reach 22.6 million in 2018 -- up from 900,000 last year, according to a report from Parks Associates, MobiHealthNews reports.

The sale of connected health and wellness devices will increase by 142% from about $3.3 billion in 2013 to more than $8 billion by 2018, according to a report from the Consumer Electronics Association, MobiHealthNews reports.

The report was produced in conjunction with Parks Associates.

According to the report, device manufacturers sold more than 40 million wellness products in 2013 and that figure is expected to increase to more than 70 million by 2018.
