Apple's Maps App Signals Strategy Shift: It's All About Telling You What To Do

The new Maps app also relies heavily on Siri, who for all her airtime in Apple commercials, has yet to prove herself an indispensable assistant to many people. Though 87 percent of iPhone 4S owners use at least one Siri feature a month, most haven't branched out beyond a basic set of functions, according to a survey from market research company Parks Associates. It remains to be seen whether Siri will be helpful or a handicap when performing local searches.

How Do iPhone 4S Owners Use Siri?

The Wall Street Journal reports that, according to a survey recently released by market research and consulting company Parks Associates, U.S. iPhone 4S owners usually use Siri to make phone calls and send text messages. In addition, only about a third of owners use Siri daily or almost daily, while 87 percent use at least one of its features monthly.

Gadgets For Women Gone Wrong: Tech Companies Take Note

On Monday HSN announced the results of a survey by the international research firm Parks Associates that asked 2,000 adults about purchases they wanted to make before 2012. Microsoft Bets Its Online Future On Skype

"The big picture is these two companies are engaged in a combat. Cross litigation efforts about patent, about design, are actually a way to gain a competitive advantage in this industry," said Harry Wang, director of mobile research at Parks Associates.
