Google's Chromecast usurps Apple TV in streaming content device race

According to fresh data from market research firm Parks Associates, the streaming media device industry shifted in 2014 toward upstart players Google and Amazon, with previous giants Apple and Roku both seeing severe drops in marketshare, reports CNET.

Roku outpaces Apple TV in US sales growth and usage for 2013, report says

In its report, "The Evolving Market For Streaming Media Devices," market research firm Parks Associates says media streaming device sales are on the rise and will be in more than 25 percent of U.S. homes by 2015 as major tech companies like Apple, Google and Amazon fight for a spot in consumers' living rooms.

Apple usurps Dell as most wanted desktop brand for holiday season

Market research firm Parks Associates (via CNET), released new data on Wednesday, which pegged Apple as the No. 1 consumer electronics brand for planned holiday purchases.

"Apple topped the list of intended brands for desktop purchases for the first time this year," said Parks Associates' Director of Consumer Analytics John Barrett. Roku beats Apple TV in owner engagement as video streaming device market picks up

The independent study conducted by Parks Associates found that 37 percent of households with a streaming video media device primarily use a Roku product, while 24 percent use an Apple TV. The survey covered 10,000 U.S. households with broadband Internet connections during the first quarter of 2013.

Siri used by 87% of iPhone 4S owners, study claims

Consulting firm Parks Associates surveyed 482 owners of Apple's iPhone 4S, the only device to support Siri functionality, and plans to release the full study later this week, reports The Wall Street Journal.

According to the study, about one third of users place phone calls, send texts or look up information daily with Siri while other services like playing music and scheduling meetings saw minimal adoption numbers with 32 percent and 35 percent, respectively.
