Over 45% of pay TV users find cloud DVR technology appealing
Over 45 percent of US pay TV subscribers find cloud DVR technology very appealing, according to new research from Parks Associates. The offer of unlimited space to store DVR recordings and a two-week catch-up TV service both appeal to over 45 percent of pay TV consumers, while multiscreen access to DVR-recorded show and bookmarking live or on-demand programs for future viewing appeal to over 25 percent. "As content owners and providers experiment with cloud technology, consumers are reaping the benefits through access to these innovative offers," according to research analyst Glenn Hower. He cites as an example Comcast, which recently launched its X1 DVR service in Atlanta. Among other capabilities, it allows subscribers to access DVR recordings on their mobile devices.
