Over half of US broadband households have OTT video service

Among US broadband households, 55 percent subscribe to an over-the-top (OTT) video service, opening up new opportunities for cloud services, according to Parks Associates. Consumer interest in cloud DVR technology is growing, with 45 percent of US broadband households finding it appealing. Parks Associated research also reveals that televisions screens are still the preferred method for watching video among a majority of US broadband households. On average, consumers spend over 20 hours each week watching video on TV screens, compared to 1.3 hours on tablets and 1.6 hours on smartphones each week.
