Over 70 per cent of pay-TV subscribers in Western Europe able to receive multiscreen services

Parks Associates research finds over 70 per cent of pay-TV subscribers in Western Europe are able to receive a TV Everywhere/multiscreen service.

In Eastern Europe, multiscreen availability topped 25 per cent of pay-TV households in early 2013. However, average revenue per user (ARPU) remains low, pushing many operators to test new business models such as a la carte pricing.

Netflix cannibalising pay-TV VoD

Low cost and viewing flexibility give over-the-top (OTT) service Netflix an advantage over pay-TV VoD and premium broadcast TV in the US, according to a new study from Parks Associates on consumer video viewing.

The study, 'Choosing Content: Viewing Video', found Netflix Watch Instantly rate higher in customer satisfaction than premium broadcast TV. Netflix also topped pay-TV VOD in terms of cost.

65 per cent of US net homes ready to switch to bundled services

Parks Associates analyst William Cheek added, "Cost is important to subscribers, and at least some savings must be a central theme of any successful campaign for bundled services.

"The challenge for service providers will be not to simply underprice their service packages in a shortsighted attempt to stem churn and attract new customers.
