59% of broadband-enabled UK households now access video content online

The proportion of UK households with broadband connections utilising the service to access online video content has reached 59%, according to new research.

Parks Associates relayed their key finding in advance of the Connections Europe summit in Amsterdam next month which will examine the rapidly expanding marketplace for connected consumer devices.

Comcast says traditional TV viewing is up, but subscribers are down across the board

According to a recent report on TV viewership from Parks Associates, 20% of US broadband households don't have a pay-TV service, while 12% of those homes cut the cord in 2018.
The report found that from 2016 to 2018, the average American spent 10% less on their pay-TV service, dropping from a monthly rate of $84 to $76.

New research highlights rapid growth of 4K TV sales, cord-cutting households

Park Associates, the market research and consulting company, this week released two pieces of research highlighting the continued growth of 4K TV sales and the percentage of U.S. households cutting the cord.

In Connected CE: Trends and Innovation, Parks Associates predicts that 330 million 4K UHD TVs will be sold globally by the end of 2019; compare this to two million such TVs sold by the end of 2013.

The US still prefers watching video content on TV to smartphones and tablets

US consumers are still relying on their digital TVs to view video content, with smartphones and tablets merely providing a second-screen experience, according to a report from market research company Park Associates.

The nationwide survey of US broadband households, conducted in the first quarter of 2014, analysed how multiplatform innovation is fuelling new revenue and retention opportunities for TV content owners and distributors.
