23% of broadband consumers in France are familiar with the capabilities of smart home products and services

Parks Associates President to present new IoT research insights at Smart Home Summit Frankfurt

New consumer research from Parks Associates shows that 23% of French broadband households report to be familiar with the capabilities of smart home products and services, compared to 15% in Germany and Spain and 12% in the U.K. The firm’s Connected Consumer in Europe project finds that roughly 14% of broadband households in these four countries have a smart home device or system but only 8% know where to purchase these solutions and 7% are familiar with which companies offer smart home products and services.

This week at Smart Home Summit Frankfurt, Parks Associates President Stuart Sikes will discuss this research during the session “Finding the Right Business Model to Drive Smart Home Growth” on 7 April at 14:25. Sikes will moderate a panel of industry experts in a discussion on business opportunities for companies to sell products and services to the connected consumer in Europe.

Familiarity with Capabilities of Smart Home Products and Services

“Familiarity with the connected smart device market may be highest in France, but broadband households in Western Europe, as a whole, do not know who is offering these solutions, where they can get them, or what they may cost,” Sikes said. “Companies will need to invest in marketing and advertising efforts to build up consumer familiarity and comfort with smart home solutions, and those who do so successfully with have an early start in the European smart home marketplace.”

Smart Home Summit Frankfurt explores the opportunities and innovations that technology is bringing to the home, with extensive analysis of the smart home landscape and in-depth focus on the drivers, hurdles, and opportunities for different stakeholders within the ecosystem.

Parks Associates’ 20th-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, held May 24-26 in San Francisco, will address many key issues facing the connected home including technology adoption and trends, forecasts of new products and services, evaluation of new business strategies, and recommendations about technology innovations, strategic partnerships, monetization opportunities, and value-added services.
