442 million connected devices will be sold in the U.S. by 2020

Industry webcast featuring Parks Associates and LogMeIn examines value of IoT connected products

New Parks Associates research reveals more than 442 million connected devices will be sold in the U.S. by 2020. Parks Associates and LogMeIn will co-host the complimentary webcast “Transforming Customer Engagement with IoT Connected Products” at 1 p.m. CT (11 a.m. PT) on Thursday, August 17, to examine the IoT value propositions and best practices product companies should utilize to deliver more engaged consumers and open new service opportunities.

“When product companies incorporate IoT connectivity into their products, they immediately expand the value they can provide to their customers,” said Patrice Samuels, Senior Analyst, Parks Associates. “The lifecycle of a product is also extended, providing a wealth of rich data manufacturers can leverage to build new engagement opportunities with their customers. This webcast discusses the best practices for product manufacturers to forge valuable new relationships with connected consumers.”

During the webcast, Parks Associates and LogMeIn will examine the new value propositions these connected devices offer, including convenience, time and energy savings, security, and peace of mind. The following speakers will also address how IoT is changing the way in which device and appliances manufacturers interact with consumers:

“Until recently, the relationship between manufacturers and end users was limited to mailed-in product registration cards or customer service calls,” Samuels said. “Today, more consumers contact device manufacturers than any other type of support provider for help in resolving problems with smart home devices. Manufacturers must leverage this connectivity to manage customer relationships and forge new levels of brand awareness and loyalty among consumers.”

The webcast will include the following key takeaways:

  • Strategies to integrate support capabilities with connected devices to enhance the customer experience.
  • Best practices and recommended value propositions for IoT connected products that will better engage consumers and open new service opportunities.
  • Insights on the maturity curve of product companies that are moving to a more service-based business model.
