Parks Associates speaking at key IoT events this week: Internet of Things World, Future Connected Cars, and ATA

Analysts to Discuss New Research on Security in the Connected Home, Predictive Intelligent Systems, and the Digital Health Market

Parks Associates announced today that industry analysts will speak at key IoT events this week about innovation, privacy and security issues, and best market strategies. The events include the Internet of Things World, Future Connected Cars, and the American Telemedicine Association’s annual conference (ATA).

Parks Associates research shows nearly 20% of U.S. broadband households own a smart home device (smart thermostats, networked cameras, smart video doorbells, smart door locks, smart lighting devices, or smart home central controllers). Over 40% of U.S. broadband households plan to buy a smart home device in 2016, and by 2025, 66% of U.S. broadband households will have a smart home product.

Parks Associates will participate in the following events this week:

Barbara Kraus, Director of Research, Parks Associates, will moderate the panel "Providing Security in the Home" at Internet of Things World, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California, on Wednesday, May 11, at 4:50 p.m. This session will examine opportunities for consumers to monitor and maintain security remotely and how to integrate safety and security. Parks Associates’ residential home security data shows:

  • 9% of U.S. broadband households own an IP/networked security camera.
  • 44% of networked security camera owners access or control their devices from their smartphone, tablet, or computer almost daily.
  • 70% of U.S. security dealers currently install or plan to install some type of interactive smart home device or system within their residential offerings in 2016.

Jennifer Kent, Director, Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates, will be a panelist during the Fireside Chat at Future Connected Cars, co-located at Internet of Things World, 4:50 p.m. on May 11 in Santa Clara. The session will assess the business models for data collection and predictive intelligence systems.   • 44% of car owners in U.S. broadband households have some kind of advanced connected car feature.
  • 61% of U.S. car owners prefer to bundle vehicle data consumption with smartphone data consumption.
  • 48% of U.S. car owners are concerned about unauthorized access or sharing of location data via connected car solutions and 45% are worried about the unauthorized sharing of vehicle performance or personal driving data.

Harry Wang, Senior Research Director, Parks Associates, will speak on the session “Emerging and Future Approaches” at ATA, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Tuesday, May 17, at 2:30 p.m. This session will examine market innovators and leaders in digital health and will include care delivery model innovations.   • 33% of U.S. broadband households own a connected health device, and 10% of U.S. broadband households own a fitness tracking device.
  • Connected wearable devices will reach 50% adoption among broadband households in North America by 2018 and in Western Europe by 2019.
